A fantastic Cambridge event, which is off the beaten track from the centre.
Many new students signed up to join their college rowing crew when they arrived in the autumn and this is their first opportunity to show what they have and have not learnt since then.
Usually you will find some pretty amazing mistakes made on the river. Fingers crossed for no accidents.
The Lent Bumps 2025 will take place from Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th March along the lower river. The back of the bumps is somewhere near the A14 fly over and 31 different boats line up in front of them spaced 1.5 lengths in front of the one behind.
A timing cannon signifies the race is about to start and coaches push the boats out into the river ready for the starting cannon to sound. Whistles blow as coaches signal the distance between their crew and the target boat ahead.
Once a bump is made the crew that makes the bump has the right to foliage from the willow tree and the defeated team hang their heads.

There is a period of time in Cambridge when visitors may not enter colleges and things get a bit quiet while students prepare for exams and then take them. This is known as the Quiet Time. It lasts from mid April to mid June.
Don’t plan your visit hoping to look round a particular college as it probably wont be possible.
Noise restrictions are in place around colleges preventing playing instruments between certain times etc., and this is designed to give the college a quiet atmosphere to allow students to study in peace.
An example of a Quiet Period can be found here on the Wolfson College website: https://www.wolfson.cam.ac.uk/current-students/quiet-period

Event Details
The East Anglian Game & Country Fair began in 2004 and is an annual two day, family event taking place on April 26th & 27th 2025 at the Euston Estate near Thetford, just off the A11.
Home to the Duke and Duchess of Grafton, Euston Hall is steeped in history and provides a beautiful backdrop to the already established events on the Estate. For more information on the venue please visit www.eustonhall.co.uk
Euston Estate provides a central location for The East Anglian Game & Country Fair, only 30 minutes from Norwich on the A11 near Elveden/Thetford with excellent access to the A14 for Cambridge and Newmarket and only 20 minutes to Bury St Edmunds.
The East Anglian Game & Country Fair was ideally suited to this beautiful venue and our first show here in April 2017 attracted record crowds. It also gave us the opportunity to further evolve and develop the show, with the space and freedom to invite new attractions and events, whilst ensuring that the popular events that we have always enjoyed remain.
